The possession of Michael King è un found footage horror scritto e diretto dall’esordiente David Jung,che si avvale dell’utilizzo sia di telecamere fisse che di quelle a mano in maniera molto diversa dal classico utilizzo visto negli ormai moltissimi film dello stesso genere.
Come le riprese nemmeno il tema principale della trama è totalmente originale e riprende i classici film sulla possessione , senza tuttavia esserne un clone o una copia ,ma dimostrando idee fresche soprattutto nella parte iniziale dove l’approccio all’orrore è quasi scientifico, purtroppo però con il proseguire dello svolgimento aumentano gli occhiolini a pellicole arcinote come Paranormal Activity e con questo cambio di stile molto del piglio dimostrato inizialmente viene perso ( mai del tutto per fortuna ).
Nonostante gli affezionati dell’orrore non sobbalzeranno praticamente mai delle loro poltrone , i “babbani” potrebbero incappare in quale Jumpscare , grazie un buon comparto audio che si piazza nei punti giusti ,aiutato dallo stile scelto per le riprese;altrettanto di buon livello sono la gestione della costante tensione e dell’ambientazione , che a braccetto accompagnano la discesa infernale di Michael e la sua progressiva trasformazione.
L’interpretazione molto fisica di Shane Johnson (visto nella serie TV Power ) è ottima, considerando che l’attore è praticamente l’unico mattatore della storia
Un ottimo film per gli amanti del genere,consigliato ed ampiamente oltre la soglia della sufficienza,ma che se avesse mantenuto il mood della prima parte sarebbe potuto essere un film da ricordare.
