Ancora un progetto Sci-Fi,ancora SyFy,il canale statunitense si sta confermando sempre più attivo nel cercare nuove serie a tema fantascientifico,attualmente l’emittente ha molta carne sul fuoco ed uno dei progetti su cui ha deciso di puntare è Hunter.
Nulla a che vedere con il film del 2003 Cacciatore di alieni ,la trama della serie deriva dal romanzo Alien Hunter di Whitley Strieber uscito nel 2013 e che ha avuto un seguito nel 2014 intitolato Alien Hunter:Underworld,i diritti sul primo libro erano stati originariamente comprati per farne un film ma l’autrice Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkey,V,Heroes) ha optato per proporre una serie TV di 13 episodi,l’emittente ha approvato l’idea ed ha affidato alla stessa Natalie il compito di lavorare all’adattamento.
Alien Hunter segue le vicende di Flynn Carroll, un poliziotto di Philadelphia che indaga ossessivamente sulla misteriosa scomparsa della moglie, le sue indagini attireranno l’attenzione di un’organizzazione segreta, dedita alla caccia di terroristi provenienti da altre parti dell’universo.

Probabilmente la serie sarà un action poliziesca,con umani e alieni di diverse razze in entrambi gli schieramenti similarmente alla serie già consolidata Defiance.
l’autore Whitley Strieber non ha mai avuto esperienze sul piccolo schermo tuttavia ben 3 delle sue opere in passato sono state adattate per il cinema , parliamo Communion (1989), the Hunger (1983) e Wolfen(1981).
Prodotta dalla Valhalla Productions di Gale Ann Hurd(The Walking Dead) la serie dovrebbe vedere la luce nel 2016.
