Strange Blood è un film body Horror del 2015 che segna il debutto di Chad Michael Ward nel mondo dei lungometraggi dopo una lunga gavetta nell’universo dei corti.
é sempre la stessa canzone che va la stessa di 1200 anni fa,cosi cantava Jovanotti in una delle sue canzoni,perfettamente adattabile a quello che rappresenta questa pellicola, per gli assidui frequentatori del genere horror dopo pochissimi secondi il paragone con le opere più classiche del regista David Cronenberg ( La mosca,Existenz,rabid per fare dei nomi ) sarà obbligatorio e spontaneo.
Chad ne riprende la paranoia,le atmosfere e le mostruosità, questo non è uno dei casi in cui l’allievo supera il maestro, ma considerando il budget risicato siamo a buonissimo punto per il futuro.,ci troviamo in quell’universo di film che mostrano quanto possa essere pericoloso per l’uomo giocare a fare il Dio e sfidare le regole della natura facendoci vedere la spirale oscura intrapresa dal protagonista ed il suo tentativo di aggrapparsi alla sua assistente.
Gli effetti speciali del film sono si ottimo livello per essere un low budget con qualche piccola carenza, ma ci si può passare sopra ,l’ambientazione segue l’evoluzione della storia stessa, da pulita e tipica di un laboratorio a caotica,sporca e illuminata malamente da sinistre luci rosse nel momento di massimo declino dello scienziato, certamente un ottima scelta dell’addetto alla fotografia che porta qualche punticino extra a Strange blood.
Il cast si può ridurre sostanzialmente a 2 personaggi, Henry ed Emma interpretati rispettivamente da Robert Brettenaugh e Alexandra Bard 2 attori poco conosciuti che però risultano adatti ai ruoli senza sfoggiare un interpretazione di finissimo livello, fanno il loro compitino.
In sostanza Strange Blood non porta nulla di nuovo al genere Horror, ma sappiamo quanto sia facile sbagliare nel genere body horror e questo personalmente mi basta per arrivare oltre alla sufficienza, non molto consigliato alle persone sensibili che non amano il gore e simili.
