Nonostante lunghe trattative con gli umani, una volta sbarcati scoprono di non essere i benvenuti; determinati tuttavia a restare sul pianeta che pensavano potesse diventare la loro nuova casa, danno inizio a una durissima guerra che sconvolgerà il mondo intero.Dopo anni di battaglie che hanno totalmente terraformato il pianeta umani e Votan ( nome collettivo delle razze aliene ) decidono di terminare le ostilità e vivere insieme e noi seguiremo Il protagonista Nolan , un noto ex marine che dopo la guerra torna nella sua città natale, New orleas (che ora si chiama Defiance ) impegnandosi a proteggerla da violenti scontri umani-alieni, sciacalli e altri eventuali pericolosi visitatori occasionali…

Questo è il set- up iniziale di Defiance , una serie ovviamente sci-fi che rappresenta uno spin-off \ universo espanso dell’omonimo videogioco sparatutto multipiattaforma ( a cui non ho purtroppo mai avuto modo di giocare ) ,in cabina di regia troviamo Kevin Murphy ( Desperate Housewife) , Rockne S. O’Bannon ( Cult ) e Michael Taylor ( Battlestar Galattica) .
Lo sviluppo della serie non ha nulla di particolarmente originale , risulta però molto particolareggiata nel suo background variopinto , un melting pot di razze,usi e costumi che sono parte integrante dello show e delle sue vicende sia come elementi di primo piano sia come sfondo, il resto è un procedurale fantascientifico con una storyline più complessa che fa da filo conduttore tra gli episodi . gli effetti speciali sono basici ma ben fatti mentre il make up è a parere mio di pregevole fattura.

Defiance si basa su cast “corale” con molti personaggi minori che si muovono con il protagonista durante le sue missioni , quasi a dimostrare che la vera protagonista sia in fondo la città stessa con i suoi abitanti , parlando di nomi troviamo il protagonista Grant Bowler ( True Blood) accompagnato da Julie Benz ( No Ordinary Family) , Stephanie Leonidas ( American Gothic ) ,Tony Curran ( i pilastri della terra ) ,Jaime Murray ( Le morti di Ian Stone ) , Trenna Keating e molti altri.
Sicuramente da provare per coloro che amano lo sci-fi,serie leggera che scorre senza molti pensieri.
